Expect many more mobile games from Nintendo in the coming months and years. The handful of franchises that have made the jump to phones already have seen some success, so the company is ready to continue pushing out new releases.
Nintendo’s latest announcement reveals Mario Kart will make its way to iOS and Android.

Aside from a title and release window, Nintendo doesn’t have much to say yet. All we know for now is that Mario Kart Tour will be released by March 2019. The company confirmed it’s set to be available sometime in the next fiscal year which starts in April.
Nintendo says Mario Kart Tour is “now in development” but not exactly how far along the title is. It’s entirely possible Nintendo just started working on it shortly before the announcement.
The strategy of taking popular first-party properties and bringing them to mobile appears to be working. Super Mario Run, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, and Fire Emblem Heroes have all achieved millions of downloads worldwide. Pokémon Go, too, was a mega-hit that has been downloaded nearly 1 billion times on iOS and Android devices.
When there are more details on Mario Kart Tour shared, we’ll pass them along to you. Right now you should expect the game to come out near the end of 2018 considering the current light schedule.
