Deadpool is definitely one of my most anticipated movies of the year. The original was a rare case of a movie living up to the hype. And now, it seems those of us anticipating it won’t have to wait quite so long. Deadpool 2 is moving up two weeks.
Deadpool 2 will now release on May 18, according to The Hollywood Reporter, up from its previous June 1 release date. That puts it just two weeks after Avengers: Infinity War, instead of nearly a month after, which would have an effect on how well it does, but that remains to be seen.
Meanwhile, another X-Men movie is moving, and it’s a big one.
The New Mutants was scheduled to hit on Friday, April 13 of this year. Now, it’ll be hitting almost a year later on February 22, 2019. Rumor has it the movie is being moved because it isn’t scary enough. Considering my initial worry was that it was being delayed because Disney doesn’t want to make a horror-genre Marvel movie, that’s not such a bad reason. We have plenty of superhero movies coming out this year even without The New Mutants.
And hey, that Deadpool news takes the sting out of it, if even just a little.
