The last time we saw Mario hit the tennis court, it was back in 2015 when Nintendo released Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash. Now, the Japanese company is introducing a new Mario Tennis, which Nintendo said will launch on the Switch in spring 2018.
Called Mario Tennis Aces, the title will be the first Mario Tennis game to feature a story mode since the Game Boy Advance. Here is the game’s official synopsis:
Mario steps onto the court in classy tennis garb for intense rallies against a variety of characters in full-blown tennis battles. New wrinkles in tennis gameplay will challenge your ability to ready an opponent’s position and stroke to determine which shot will give you the advantage. And this time the game adds the first story mode since the Mario Tennis game on Game Boy Advance, offering a new flavor of tennis gameplay, with a variety of missions, boss battles and more.
Nintendo doesn’t make it clear if Mario Tennis Aces will feature a multiplayer component, but did say more details will be revealed soon. In any case, Mario sports games are typically a good time, and I don’t expect Aces to be any different.
