The BlackBerry Motion is on its way to select retailers in the U.S., TCL Communication announced this week. The GSM unlocked version will be available on Friday, January 12 through Amazon and Best Buy for $449. The device will fit beside the KEYone, which is arriving as a Bronze Edition in a few weeks (no exact date revealed). That device will be available in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.
According to Alain Lejeune, Global Manager for BlackBerry Mobile, there’s been very strong interest in both the KEYone and Motion, which is why the company is continuing to commit to both handsets.
“With new BlackBerry smartphones from TCL Communication now available in over 50 countries around the world, we have a solid foundation to continue building upon our portfolio in the new year.”
Which is exactly what’s going to happen later this year. At least two new BlackBerry smartphones will be released later this year, which is great news for fans of the company. Unfortunately, TCL Communication doesn’t reveal when customers can expect these phones to be released, or what shape they’ll take.
Chances are there will be a high-end BlackBerry device alongside one that’s more affordable. For now, TCL communication is gearing up to release Android 8.0 Oreo to its BlackBerry devices, which will also include additional security updates and new features, though it’s unclear what those will be exactly.
If you’re unfamiliar with the Motion, the device features a 5.5-inch Full HD display, a 4,000mAh battery, IP67 water and dust resistance, Android 7.1 Nougat, a Snapdragon 625 processor, and 4GB of RAM.
