Online retailers in Asia were going live with product listings early, so OnePlus went ahead and announced the OnePlus 5T in Sandstone White a day earlier than expected.
Releasing white-colored products isn’t anything new for OnePlus. Since the OnePlus One in 2014, white has been used in some way or another pretty consistently. Though a true all-white model hasn’t come along in a few years, the color is often utilized with gold.
Now, with the OnePlus 5T, the company is bringing back the color in a meaningful way.

The OnePlus 5T in Sandstone White, while having thin black bezels above and below the display, has a white body. And the “Sandstone” part of the name refers to the texture. The power button and volume rocker on the right side of the phone are black, but the alert slider is red. As a whole, the phone’s new color gives a Pixel 2 XL in Black & White since there are two colors used heavily and then a small accent.
Consumers won’t get to choose between different variants. OnePlus only shows the OnePlus 5T in Sandstone White with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The OnePlus 5T in Midnight Black, meanwhile, also has a variant with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. OnePlus will keep the same pricing in place as the new model is set at $559.
If this style looks familiar, that’s because it’s nearly identical to the Star Wars-themed model that’s an exclusive for India. The Sandstone White model merely drops any of the popular franchise’s branding.
OnePlus says the OnePlus 5T in Sandstone White will be available starting January 9, though it’s unclear if that’s for every region.
