Your next iPhone might take advantage of Apple’s productivity-driven accessory. The Apple Pencil will work with the 5.8- and 6.5-inch models due out later this year, says TrendForce in a new report.
Apple, according to the research firm, intends to include support for its two iPhone models featuring OLED panels. It’ll act as a premium feature you won’t find on the 6.1-inch LCD model. With the models that do involve the Apple Pencil, you’ll be able to scribble away just as you do on the iPad (2018) and iPad Pro.
The potential memory and storage configurations for each model were mentioned, too. Apple’s 6.1-inch model could have 3GB of memory while the other two models step up to 4GB for heavy workloads and multitasking. The OLED-toting duo might have 64GB, 256GB, and 512GB choices for storage. But, for the LCD-toting counterpart, Apple will stick with 64GB and 256GB.
Here’s a diagram laying out what you should expect this fall from Apple:
As for pricing, these new iPhone models could be a little more affordable than what we saw last year.
The 6.1-inch model, which includes that budget-friendly LCD panel, is expected to sit around $699-$749. Apple’s 5.8- and 6.5-inch models, however, will start at $899-$949 because of the OLED panels with curved edges. Still, that’d be better than the iPhone X and its $999 starting price.
Since the iPhone 8 remains the most popular iPhone available, Apple would be wise to maintain some level of affordability. Consumers aren’t completely sold on the idea of dropping over $1,000 for a mobile device that doesn’t leap ahead of what they already have.
The countdown for Apple’s new iPhone models is almost over. While the company still hasn’t sent out invites, the launch event should take place in early-to-mid September. We should also get to see the iPhone joined by the iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch lines as well.
