Just before its I/O keynote, Google announced the winners for the 2018 Google Play Awards.
The ceremony bestowed awards for nine apps and games that have achieved excellence across various categories. Rather than giving out awards based purely on downloads, Google takes things like ratings, updates, and impact into consideration. There’s even collaboration between multiple teams at the company to decide nominees and winners.
In 2018, the winners might not be limited to apps and games you’ve heard about. That’s what makes the Google Play Awards more interesting. Since the categories tend to be unique, there could be apps and games you end up trying for the first time.
