John Legere, T-Mobile poke fun at the “abominable carriers” for the holidays

Never will the Un-carrier pass on an opportunity to attack its competitors, so T-Mobile released a new holiday advertisement telling the story of the “abominable carriers.”

The clip starts with a reindeer explaining to an elf how John Legere was initially thought to be crazy but somehow turned the wireless industry on its head. After the elf’s phone rings, the reindeer wonders how he was able to get service in the North Pole. Legere himself appears during his trip to the “Island of Misfit CEOs.”

A snowman then chimes in and shares the story of how T-Mobile went on the rise, defeating carriers who “only care about silver and gold and how to take it from the people of the world.” We then get a look at real headlines run by popular media outlets before and after T-Mobile rattled an entire industry. Two abominable carriers, undoubtedly colored red and blue to represent Verizon and AT&T, are knocked out by Legere’s laser-firing sleigh. Then a bag of goodies including T-Mobile’s various benefits are put on display.

It is, of course, a spin on the story of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. While there’s a reindeer in the ad, Legere and T-Mobile are the ones who would once get laughed at and called names. Not anymore, though. The magenta-loving carrier has changed the way people perceive it, and T-Mobile is still experiencing incredible growth quarter after quarter.
