Netflix has announced that its latest Marvel series, The Punisher, will be returning for a second season.

The announcement comes just a few weeks after The Punisher premiered on November 17. The series examined Frank Castle’s backstory that was briefly touched upon in the second season of Daredevil.

This provided a very different type of series for Netflix. Instead of the wholesome and archetype hero, you get an antihero who has a mean streak to him. The Punisher is the sixth Marvel series to debut on Netflix after Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Defenders. Each of those – with the exception of the last one – was greenlit for a second season and they will now be joined by The Punisher.

During the announcement, Netflix didn’t reveal an exact date for the premiere of the second season. It should arrive sometime late in 2018 or possibly early 2019. Whenever that is, we can’t wait to see Frank Castle back in action.
