Finally there’s a release date for the iMac Pro. Apple announced that the most powerful iMac ever created will be released Thursday, December 14. The product was first announced at WWDC 2017 in June, and ever since the company’s been fine-tuning it for perfection.
By releasing the iMac Pro later this week, Apple is keeping its promise of shipping before the end of the year.
Everything imaginable was tossed into this iMac. Apple including a 27-inch 5K (5120×2880) display, up to a ten-core Intel Xeon processor, up to 128GB of RAM, up to an AMD Radeon Pro Vega 64 GPU, up to 4TB of internal storage, four USB-C Thunderbolt 3 ports, four USB 3.0 ports, an SD card slot, an ethernet port, a headphone jack, and a 1080p camera. There’s also an A10 Fusion processor hidden in the aluminum body, which could be for always-on Siri integration. See, Apple spared nothing for the iMac Pro. That’s why the price is so high.
The iMac Pro starts at $4,999 and gets you an eight-core processor, 32GB of RAM a Radeon Vega 56 GPU, and 1TB of storage. That’s really the only pricing we know for now. Apple hasn’t shared what the other models are going to cost.
As soon as the iMac Pro becomes available, we’ll let you know. Because we’re certain a number of you are dying to drop thousands of dollars on a desktop rather than something like rent, a mortgage payment, or a new car. Then again, we love technology and can’t blame you for buying a shiny new iMac with specifications that’ll run circles around the competition.
Apple’s “killer iMac” is, according to the company, made for everyone from video editors and 3D animators to software developers and scientists.
