Google on Monday officially made the Home Max available to purchase, beating Apple to the high-end smart home speaker market. Customers can purchase the device in chalk (white) or charcoal (black) for $399.
The Home Max’s arrival is a long time coming. After debuting in October, the speaker quickly disappeared from the spotlight, laying low while Google released the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. Now, with the holiday season in full swing, customers who want a more robust speaker can buy the Home Max as the highlight of their smart home system.
“Google Home Max is made for the ultimate in high fidelity,” Google says.
The Google Home Max features dual 4.5-inch woofers, custom tweeters, and smart sound technology, adjusting the sound based on its surrounding. Google says the technology will provide users with “full, balanced audio” no matter where the speaker is placed.
The Home Max also comes equipped with Google Assistant, allowing users to use their voice to control the device. Users can command Home Max to play music on Spotify, for example, or ask for the weather. Anything the Google Home can do, the Home Max can do better.
If you purchase the Home Max now, delivery is estimated to arrive by December 19.
