Just days before Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theaters, Disney has released new footage of the film. Needless to say, it has people buzzing about what it could mean.
Possible spoilers ahead
The official Star Wars account this week tweeted out a TV spot for the movie, and it features a few quick glimpses at new footage. In particular, Poe flying around in his custom X-Wing. But it’s the very last shot that has Star Wars fans speculating over Rey and her role in the upcoming film.
The footage sees Rey Force pull Kylo Ren’s crossguard lightsaber toward her, igniting the weapon as she faces off against what looks to be Snoke’s Praetorian Guards (dressed up in gorgeous red robes).
In VIII days, see Star Wars: #TheLastJedi.

Seeing Rey wield Ren’s preferred weapon is in and of itself a big deal. But also take note of the room she’s in and the machine she’s standing next to. Those will have big implications for the plot, not just in The Last Jedi, but possibly in Episode IX.
Delving deeper into what this could mean for Rey, we’re inclined to believe that she may have learned how to tap into both the Light and Dark sides of the Force, giving her unprecedented abilities.
Whether she’ll succumb to either side completely remains to be seen. It doesn’t sound like Luke wants to open Rey up to the ways of the Jedi. So where does that leave her? We’ll find out when Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits on December 15.
