Gmail updated to support iPhone X and third-party accounts

Google has pushed out an update for Gmail on iOS that will support the iPhone X and third-party accounts.

Gmail is the last piece of the puzzle to fall for Google in its support for the iPhone X’s bigger 5.8-inch display. Google was uncharacteristically slow to update its apps, waiting many weeks to roll out updates for its Docs suite and Google Maps. The last hold out was Gmail.

The update also comes with added support for third party accounts. You will now be able to use non-Gmail accounts in the Gmail app, including iCloud, Outlook, Hotmail, Office 365 and Yahoo as well as a few other IMAP accounts.

Google has long reserved the Gmail app as a platform for its own service, at least on iOS. With third party account support now in tow, Gmail will serve as an email client for all, not just Google.

The update is now available for all iOS users. Download it now through the App Store.
