Spotify promotion offers steep discount on premium plan

If you’re an avid Spotify user, now’s a really great time to save money on a premium plan. The company on Friday introduced a new promotion that will bring an annual subscription down to just $99, saving users $20. That’s the price of a movie ticket to see Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

With the holiday season in full swing, the offer is an obvious move to entice new users to subscribe. But it’s also a nice nod to existing subscribers—just re-up your plan and you’ll save some dough.

Subscribers can save through December 31, after which the price goes back up to $120 for the year. (If you want a more granular breakdown, the one-time payment brings the monthly price down to $8.25.)

Unfortunately, discounts aren’t being extended to family plans (ugh), so only individuals can take advantage of the savings. It’s unclear if Spotify has any other juicy promotions planned before the year is over.

Additionally, once you pay the one-time fee, you’re locked in for 12 months; no cancelling in the middle of your plan like you can if you paid monthly. If you plan on sticking with the service, that’s not a huge deal. But it’s something you should be aware of before jumping in.

You can grab a 12-month Spotify premium plan for $99 right here.
