Currently, the Snapdragon 835 is the top dog from Qualcomm, but it appears that the company has at least three more chips in active development.
True-Tech.net spotted some interesting information on a few LinkedIn profiles that point to three upcoming Snapdragon processors: The 840, 845 and 855. A LinkedIn profile from a senior staff engineer at Qualcomm mentions they are currently the “SoC PD Lead for Snapdragon 845” as well as that they have been working on a 7nm process.
Another employee’s profile discusses the 855, 840 and 830.
The Snapdragon 845 is expected to release with the Galaxy S9. If Qualcomm follows its usual release schedule, the Snapdragon 855 would probably release towards the end of 2018 and begin shipping in early 2019.
Putting the two profiles together, it suggests that the 855 would be manufactured using a 7nm process which should increase its efficiency.
With Snapdragon processors powering a large swath of the Android world, it looks like we’re in for an exciting year of even more powerful phones.
