OnePlus says the headphone jack is here to stay

Expect the OnePlus 5T to have something fewer high-end phones are shipping with. Headphone jacks are becoming less common in flagships, but OnePlus wants to let everyone know it won’t be getting rid of the little port. Before announcing the new phone, the company has released a teaser looking back at its six previous releases. All of them, you’ll notice, have a headphone jack.

Here’s the teaser, which was put on Twitter:

OnePlus doesn’t mess around when it comes to calling out the competition. Here we have the company clearly knocking Apple, Google, and other companies that have dropped the headphone jack from their flagships. The teaser sent out today shows the OnePlus One, OnePlus 2, OnePlus X, OnePlus 3, OnePlus 3T, and OnePlus 5 stacked with their headphones jacks exposed.

It’s a sign the OnePlus 5T will ship with a headphone jack as well. No one was really doubting that, but OnePlus has indirectly gone ahead to confirm its inclusion. If there wasn’t a headphone jack on the OnePlus 5T, the company wouldn’t be patting itself on the back for doing so before.

The second 2017 flagship from OnePlus will be like its predecessor from the summer; however, the company will tweak the display. OnePlus is relocating the fingerprint scanner to the back of the phone in order to have a 6-inch display with 18:9 aspect ratio consuming most of the front.

Internal specifications, meanwhile, will stay largely unchanged from the OnePlus 5.

We could see the OnePlus 5T launch on Thursday, November 16. That wasn’t officially marked by OnePlus, though. Last month a promotional page from Amazon India leaked, and it revealed when a launch is likely to happen.
