Sony on Monday had a showcase in Paris where it showed off a ton of new titles, along with new footage from titles like God of War and Spider-Man. But, of course, the company saved the best for last, showing off thrilling new footage for The Last of Us Part II.
And it DOES NOT DISAPPOINT.
The game looks as brutal as you remember, showcasing the dire circumstances these people are in—years after the initial outbreak. While Naughty Dog has already shared footage of the game, it was a simple video of Ellie playing a song on her guitar.
This newest footage shows off brand new characters and what would seem like a new playable lead. We don’t know who these people are, but the two groups—one group seems like religious fanatics?—that are introduced do not like each other.
It’s insane how Naughty Dog can make a few minutes of video so engaging. We don’t know the context of the situation, but a woman is hung in a noose and is near death before someone comes to the rescue.
It’s unclear how the woman or the two groups know or are even related in any way to Ellie and Joel. We also have no idea what the story of the second game will focus on. But after seeing today’s trailer, we are left wanting more.
Here is the official description in the video:
At its core, The Last of Us Part II is still very much about Ellie and Joel, but for this reveal, we wanted to showcase several new characters that are integral to their next journey. We’re sure you have many questions after watching this scene.
No release date or timeframe was given, but let’s hope The Last of Us Part II hits in 2018.
