iPhone X discounts you can get with AT&T

With the iPhone X pre-orders already available, the carriers have announced some sweet deals. Sprint has the best offer, with $350 off with specific trade-ins, while Verizon and T-Mobile come in a close second with $300 off. Interestingly enough, AT&T has been surprisingly quiet without announcing a major offer for the iPhone X, but there’s still some sweet discounts you can score with the carrier if you know where to look.

We’re not sure why AT&T didn’t make more of a push to market its trade-in deals for the iPhone X. What we do know is that certain phones you trade-in can net you as much as $335 off the iPhone X. Instead of a set list of qualifying phones that will net you certain tiers of discounts, AT&T bases their trade in discounts on a number of points, including model, storage and physical state of the device.

Here’s is a break down of the possible trade-in discounts:

  • $335 off: 64GB Galaxy S8 Plus
  • $300 off: 128GB iPhone 7 Plus
  • $290 off: 128GB iPhone 7
  • $260 off: 128GB iPhone 6s Plus
  • $236 off: 64GB Galaxy S8
  • $170 off: 128GB iPhone 6 Plus
  • $155 off: 64GB iPhone 6s
  • $145 off: 32GB Galaxy S7 Edge
  • $120 off: 64GB iPhone 6

AT&T will not take in damaged devices. In a questionnaire for the trade in, it asks if the device has any cracks on the display, and if you select yes, the discount amount turns to $0. The devices you trade need to be in good condition with little to no physical abuse. If you want to see how much you can get for your device through AT&T, you can check its calculator here.

The discounts you receive with AT&T end up falling short of what the other carriers offer, which is disappointing. The iPhone 7 will automatically net you $300 with any other carrier, but AT&T shorts you ten bucks. An iPhone 6 (regardless of storage) will get you $200 with the other carriers. AT&T, meanwhile, is content with giving a minuscule $104 discount for the base 16GB option.

The iPhone X is available for pre-order now, but at this point, you’re looking at a 5-6 week wait time.
