Apple releases iOS 11.1 beta 3—Get Apple’s newest software!

Apple on Monday released the third beta for iOS 11.1, just one week after the company rolled out the second beta for the same software.

The newest release is expected to address several problems people have had since iOS 11 was released in September, as well as adding new features, such as emoji and Apple Pay Cash.

Crucially, iOS 11.1 also brings back the 3D Touch multi-tasking gesture that Apple mysteriously removed from iOS 11. The gesture allows users to easily pull up the multi-tasking screen with a firm press on the left edge of the iPhone’s display.

Some of the new emoji arriving in iOS 11.1 include an exploding head, fortune cookie, pie, vampire, and more. Developers and public beta testers haven’t yet had the opportunity to test out Apple Pay Cash, but the feature is widely expected to arrive in iOS 11.1 once it’s released for consumers; Apple Pay Cash allows iPhone users to easily send cash to friends and family through the Messages app.

With the iPhone X just around the corner, we can likely expect iOS 11.1 to be released to coincide with the device’s launch. If any major features surface in the newest beta, we’ll be sure to let you know.
