Amazon continues its launch of new products leading up to the holiday season with the announcement of an all-new Kindle Oasis that has some pretty nifty new tricks up its sleeve.
On Wednesday Amazon drew back the curtains on its top-of-the-line Kindle, the second generation Kindle Oasis. The new 2017 model increases the screen size by 1-inch and has features 300 ppi (pixels per inch) which should allow you to read the screen in just about any conditions.
In addition to the increased screen size, Amazon also added IPX8 water-resistance which makes this the perfect companion for taking to the beach or laying out by the pool during the summer. It can withstand up to 3 feet of water for up to 30 minutes.
The Kindle Oasis also now features support for Audible meaning that you can listen to your books as well as reading them. When paired with a Bluetooth speaker you’ll enjoy even better sound than listening through the device itself.
“Ten years ago, we introduced our first Kindle with the mission of delivering any book ever written in 60 seconds or less,” said Dave Limp, Senior Vice President, Amazon Devices and Services. “With a larger 7-inch, 300 ppi display, waterproof design, and Audible built right in, the all-new Kindle Oasis is our most advanced Kindle ever. Its thin, light, and waterproof design allows readers to stay engaged in the author’s world in even more places than ever before.”
The new Kindle Oasis will be available starting Oct. 31 with pricing starting at $249.99 for the 8GB version with special offers. 32GB and cellular connectivity models are also available. A selection of water-safe covers is also available starting at $44.99, and leather covers begin at $59.99.
