The Avatar sequels have added Oscar-winning actress Kate Winslet to its cast.
Kate Winslet has some history with director and writer James Cameron. She was the muse of his previous megahit, Titanic, starring alongside Leonardo DiCaprio. Winslet has signed on a for a starring role in the four planned sequels of the most successful movie ever.
“Kate and I have been looking for something to do together for 20 years, since our collaboration on Titanic, which was one of the most rewarding of my career,” Cameron commented on the news. “I can’t wait to see her bring the character of Ronal to life.”
Other than confirming the name of Winslet’s character, Ronal, Cameron didn’t elaborate anymore of whether she’d be a Na’vi character or a human character.
The last time Winslet and Cameron teamed up in Titantic, she earned a Best Actress Oscar nod and he won three Oscars for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Film Editing. The duo hopes to recreate that success in the upcoming Avatar sequels.
Production on four Avatar sequels has already begun with a gigantic budget of $1 billion. The first sequel won’t hit theaters until 2020 with the franchise culminating in 2025 with Avatar 5. The entire cast of the firm movie, including Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana and Sigourney Weaver, is returning to reprise their roles.
Unfortunately, even with the addition of Winslet’s superb acting ability, the Avatar logo will still use the Papyrus font.
