Pacific Rim: Uprising trailer – The Kaiju return

The first full trailer for Pacific Rim: Uprising has arrived, and a lot going on.

It has been 10 years since the events of Pacific Rim, and thanks to the Battle of the Breach, the Jaeger program was revitalized and two whole new generations of mechs have been built. When we last left off, the Mark V Striker Eureka was the top of the line, but in the sequel, we will meet both Mark VI and Mark VII models. Gipsy Danger was a Mark III, but the follow-up Gipsy Avenger will be a Mark VI.

In other words, expect some butt kicking.

While it’s clear the Kaiju weren’t all killed when Gipsy Danger detonated within the breach, it’s not clear how they have found a way back into the human world. It also appears that we may see some Jaeger vs Jaeger action this time around.

On the human side, John Boyega will be playing Jake Pentecost, the son of Idris Elba’s Stacker Pentecost. Returning cast members include Rinko Kikuchi as Mako Mori, Charlie Day as Dr. Newt Geiszler, and Burn Gorman as Dr. Hermann Gottlieb.

The look of the film is definitely brighter, but expect it to still bring a lot of destruction.

Pacific Rim: Uprising will hit theaters on March 23, 2018.
