Apple introduced the iPhone X last month, taking a step to what it deems as the smartphone design of the future. And although the phone hasn’t been released yet, rumors are already swirling around an even bigger iPhone X Plus for next year.
That idea peaked iDrop News’ interest, so it created renders that imagines the 6-plus inch display on an iPhone. It looks stunning.
The Korean Herald originally reported the news of an impending larger iPhone X Plus that will feature a 6.4-inch OLED display. That’s a big increase in display size, topping the Galaxy Note 8’s 6.3-inch display. iDrop News’ renders show what this new iPhone X Plus would look like next to the regular version. There’s really nothing that changes in the overall design, it’s just a bigger iPhone X.
The report went on to say that Apple originally was planning on making a smaller 5.2-inch OLED iPhone, but scrapped the plan to focus on the iPhone X Plus.
It is way too early to know if Apple will produce a plus sized iPhone X, but if it does, it’s an idea that makes sense. It would follow through with its iPhone Plus scheme and it would offer up a gigantic display to those to really want one. And for everyone else, the 5.8-inch version with the much smaller footprint is still available.
This report of a phone that is at least a year out from being released should be taken with a grain of salt. We don’t usually hear news of Apple’s iPhone plans until well into the development cycle—and that won’t happen until mid-2018.
But even so, it’s still interesting to check out the renders and imagine what Apple might do next with the iPhone.
