It’s been widely reported, but now the missing headphone jack on the Pixel 2 is essentially confirmed prior to the phone’s official announcement. Walmart accidentally posted a product listing for the Google Home Mini today on its site.
Next to the home-based digital assistant in one of the pictures was the Pixel 2 showing a revamped Google Home app. However, the design of the Pixel 2 is the real story. The Pixel 2 shown on Walmart’s site reveals that the phone is missing a headphone jack.
Here’s the image, which has since become unaccessible as the retailer took down the page:
We’re looking at the Pixel 2 XL with a white body and black front. The front-facing stereo speakers that leaked yesterday are also visible, and there’s a USB-C port on the bottom of the phone. What we don’t see is a headphone jack next to the USB-C port. It’s possible Google will place one on the top of the Pixel 2, but there haven’t been any signs that a headphone jack will be included.
Multiple sources in countless reports have stated the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL will go forward without one. Owners of these phones will have to utilize a provided adapter or embrace Bluetooth for wireless audio.
