Pay up to protect your iPhone X

Getting extended technical support and accidental damage coverage from Apple for the iPhone X will be far from cheap.

Apple just keeps adding to the already eye-popping price of $999 for the phone alone.

AppleCare+ is the company’s extended warranty program for everything from the iPhone and iPad to the Mac and Apple Watch. If Apple sells it, you can get coverage. Normally AppleCare+ is priced at $129 for the iPhone, and it’ll still cost that for the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. But a price hike is in order for the iPhone X. The same addition to protect Apple’s high-end phone will be $70 more expensive.

Apple is going to charge $199 for nothing extra compared to what other iPhone owners pay. It’s the same extended technical support and accidental damage coverage between all devices. You still receive two years of protection for manufacturing defects and two claims for accidental damage.

If there’s anything positive to add, it’s that the service fees don’t appear to have changed.
