Apple will offer 4K content at the same price as HD, offers free upgrade

There was speculation that Apple might charge more for 4K titles when it finally jumped on the bandwagon, but we can put those fears to rest. At its event on Tuesday, the company announced it will offer 4K movies at the same price as HD movies. Even better, if you already own a library of HD movies, Apple will offer a free 4K upgrade.

The update comes on the heels of Apple’s brand new 4K Apple TV, which will play higher resolution content, with support for HDR 10 and Dolby Vision. In addition to movies in 4K, Apple’s new streaming box will also play 4K content through Netflix and Amazon Prime TV (once the Amazon app finally rolls out).
