The long-awaited Apple TV with 4K support has finally arrived. Apple has long been expected to embrace the technology, but it had failed to incorporate it into its set-top box over the past couple years.

The Apple TV 4K features a custom-made A10X Fusion chip found inside the iPad Pro. Those are the same specifications that were leaked just yesterday. Apple claimed CPU performance is doubled and GPU performance improved by 4x.

It is a big upgrade over the current Apple TV with the A8 chip and 2GB of RAM that was first introduced back in 2014. The update was a long time in the making, but it is here now.

Apple will start selling its upgraded Apple TV 4K September 22 for $179 for the 32GB and $199 for the 128GB version.
