After appearing in the leaked iOS 11 Gold Master software this weekend, the Apple Watch Series 3 has received another confirmation.
Users on Reddit took notice when the Verizon app very briefly listed Apple Watch Series 3 as an option in a configuration screen for adding a device. The reference was quickly removed, but not before users were able to grab screenshots.
It has long been rumored that the third iteration of Apple’s wearable would include LTE connectivity, and this certainly adds credence to that. Where the story takes an odd turn is that developers tearing down the iOS 11 leak have only found Apple Watch Series 1 and 2 listed in the code where you would also expect to see Apple Watch Series 3 appear.
Interesting… there’s no “Apple Watch Series 3” name references on iOS 11 GM internal files. pic.twitter.com/F7qCX7LOnx

As a marketing photo did appear in the iOS 11 GM leak, it seems safe to say the device does indeed exist, but one has to wonder why it isn’t mentioned in the actual code. Seeing as there are some formatting issues in the software, one has to wonder if this was more of a GM candidate than an actual GM.
All will be revealed on Tuesday as Apple takes to the stage for its event. Despite Apple Watch Series 3 not appearing in some parts of the code, it still feels safe to say that it will be one of the devices we’ll be hearing about during the event.
