Anticipation for science fiction and fantasy movies can typically be satiated by set pictures and revealing trailers, but don’t underestimate the power of a good poster. Wonder Woman saw the artists over at the Warner Bros. marketing department really flex their muscles, and now it’s Marvel’s turn to do the same.
Up until now, the posters for Thor: Ragnarok have been utterly delightful, featuring a vibrant color palette to match the movie’s more retro, sonic direction. These latest character posters from Marvel continue the colorful theme while highlighting a key effect utilized by one of Marvel’s best artists.
All of the movie’s main cast is represented, including Thor, Hulk, Loki, Valkyrie, Hela, Heimdall, and Jeff Goldblum’s eccentric Grandmaster. The Hela poster stands out among the bunch, though Hulk looks powerful and rather angry adorned in his gladiator armor.
Surprisingly, Thor: Ragnarok has been voted by fans, via Fandango, as this fall’s most anticipated movie, besting Justice League and Blade Runner 2049. It just goes to show that a Thor/Hulk buddy movie is exactly what people wanted to see.
As for whether the movie will actually be good, we still have nearly two months until we know the answer. But given how deliciously wild the movie’s trailers have been, it looks like the combination of Thor, Hulk, Loki, and director Taika Waititi’s deadpan humor is exactly what the next standalone Thor movie needed.
Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters on November 3.
