That Scorsese-produced movie is going to be “super dark”

We all, whether we’ll admit it or not, can’t help but gawk at wrecks on the side of the road. But what about a wreck that we know is going to happen a year or two from now? That’s the recently-announced Joker movie. Now we’re getting some details about it, and it doesn’t seem like any better an idea than it did when we first heard about it.

This movie is being produced by the legendary Martin Scorsese, and directed by Hangover director Todd Phillips, and focuses on Joker’s origin in a “gritty and grounded… early-’80s Gotham City.” That we knew. But former MMA fighter Brandan Schaub, with whom Phillips shares an agent by the name of Todd Feldman, had more to add.

Super dark, you guys

“My boy Todd Feldman put this together with Todd Phillips,” he said on Joe Rogan’s Joe Rogan Experience podcast. “It’s dark. It’s like a dark Joker.”

Is he not familiar with the Joker? The dude wore his own face as a mask for a while a couple years back.

“As a kid, he had a permanent smile and everyone made fun of him, Schaub continued. “It’s like on the streets of Brooklyn, it’s super dark and real.”

We’re eager to see more about this Joker film as news leaks out, but not for nearly the same reasons we’re stoked for details about, say, Wonder Woman 2, or Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
