Announced at IFA in Berline, TCL on Thursday took the wraps off of the BlackBerry KeyOne Black Edition, which is set to launch globally beginning Q3 2017. The device will be available in Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Asia.
According to TCL, demand for the KeyOne has been exceptional, a reason why the this stealthy new version is being introduced. For what it’s worth, the BlackBerry KeyOne in a very similar “space black” was recently announced as an AT&T exclusive, with the device set to be available beginning September 1.
The new Black Edition features a matte black finish, giving the device a sleek, stealthy look, and 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. Additional specs include a 4.5-inch display, 12-megapixel camera, Snapdragon 625 chip, and Android 7.1 Nougat.
“We’re excited to follow our initial launch with the all-new BlackBerry KeyOne Black Edition that delivers on our promise to expand our BlackBerry smartphone portfolio in 2017, while laying the groundwork for another addition to our lineup later this year,” said Alain Lejeune, Global General Manager for TCL Communication’s BlackBerry Mobile brand.
The BlackBerry KeyOne doesn’t have the best specs around, but that’s not why you’d buy the device anyway. Along with BlackBerry’s DTEK security monitoring and protection, you buy the KeyOne for its physical keyboard, a feature that has become incredibly rare.
Once the device officially launches we’ll be sure to let you know.
