Samsung’s mobile displays have long been regarded as the best on the market . By that logic, the Galaxy Note 8 must have the best smartphone display, right?
That is correct, and it’s not because of the transitive property. DisplayMate, the site that tests every smartphone display, tested out the Note 8’s and concluded that it is the best display around.
DisplayMate tested out the Galaxy S8 earlier this year and gave it an A+. It’s hard to imagine the Note 8 topping that, but its 6.3-inch QHD+ AMOLED display did. Samsung outfitted the Note 8 with a display that’s 22 percent bright than what you’ll find in the S8.
That’s thanks in part to the new 1,200 nits of peak brightness. The S8 caps out at 1,000 nits, while the iPhone 7 Plus only reaches 705 nits.
Samsung also used the same Full 100-percent color gamut used for 4K OLED TVs. The Note 8’s display offers 112-percent DCI-P3 and 141-percent of sRGB. This in turns leads to the best viewing experience you can find in a smartphone.
DisplayMate went on to call the Note 8 display the “most innovative and high performance smartphone display that we have ever lab tested,” earning the highest A+ rating DisplayMate has ever awarded.
In a short summary, Samsung continued its history of making fantastic phone display.
If you were looking for another reason to upgraded to the Note 8, now you have it. You’ll get the best display found in a smartphone.
