Google Maps for Android now supports PIP

Google has updated its Maps application for Android with support for Program-in-Picture (PiP); however, the feature is currently only available on (the handful of) smartphones running Android 8.0 Oreo.

Just like you’d minimise a channel using PiP on a TV, Maps allows you to shrink a navigation window, so you can actively monitor it from within any other application, like Play Music and Spotify.

Something all users will be able to take advantage of, however, is the new note-taking feature, which lets you jot down important information you might need when you arrive at your destination.

In typical fashion, Big G is distributing the upgrade in stages. From what we can tell, it’s currently live in the United States and a handful of countries in mainland Asia and Europe.
