PayPal now works on Nintendo eShop on Switch, 3DS and Wii U

PayPal and Nintendo have announced that consumers can now use PayPal to make purchases on the eShop of their choice. For the Nintendo Switch, it’s simple. For the 3DS and Wii U, it’s… fine.

Nintendo Switch owners will now see the option to pay with PayPal when they go to purchase a new game or piece of content from the eShop on their console. The button will pop up and they’ll make their payment there.

If you’re looking to use PayPal to make a purchase on the 3DS or Wii U, you’ll need to “use PayPal on the official Nintendo website to fund balances, and to purchase software downloads on Nintendo 3DS™, Wii U™…” That comes directly from PayPal, by the way. You can also fund your Switch’s account in the same way, though why would you?

It’s simple, but it’s convenience features like this that make online purchases easier and more likely to occur. PayPal makes it so there’s one less hurdle between consumers and Nintendo content, and both parties will likely reap the benefits with this addition.

Do you have a preference when it comes to buying games from digital shops? Credit cards? Gift cards? PayPal?
