Android O name may have just been confirmed by Google itself

Earlier today, Google revealed a major Android O announcement will be happening on August 21, or better known as Eclipse Day. But along with the announcement, Google accidentally included some information that strongly hints that Android O will in fact be called Oreo.

Android Police spotted a description with the Google+ video post titled “GoogleOreo_Teaser_0817_noDroids (1).mp4.” This doesn’t confirm that Android O will be Oreo, but it does strongly imply it will named after the famous cookie brand.

For all we know, an intrepid Google developer may be throwing us a curveball ahead of the Monday announcement. It may end up being called Android Orange, Octopus or Orangina, but those speculated names don’t have the same ring as Android Oreo. Here’s hoping Google does go with the cookie-themed name.
