PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds shattering records

The year’s breakout indie success, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, is roaring through the gaming industry with impressive sales figures and an obvious lasting impression similar to what Rocket League saw a few years back. Everyone is playing, and if you’re not, then you’re a total square…

…like me.

So far, 7 million copies have been sold worldwide, and the game isn’t even out of Steam Early Access yet. It took less than a month for it to sell its most recent million copies, with the 6 million mark being reached on July 30. Word of mouth is obviously helping a lot.

And as for concurrent players, it is seeing roughly 600,000 at a time over the last 24 hours. It has shattered blockbuster games likes Fallout 4, has set a speed record for reaching its current levels, and it clearly has Counter-Strike’s 850,485 player record in sight.

No matter how you look at it, this is clearly the break-out title of the year. Publications are calling for PUGB to be considered for a Game of the Year contender already, and patches will only help spread its influence.

Now… to eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich…
