Agents of Mayhem launch trailer drops, and I have early opinions

Volition, the study behind Saints Row, is set to release Agents of Mayhem this week on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC platforms. They dropped a launch trailer for the game, and you can dig into it here.

I’ve personally been juggling a few games and have been going at Agents of Mayhem since late last week. It’s a really interesting game that I’m enjoying with caveats.

First, there’s an overwhelming amount of information and mechanics to wade through initially. The game starts off exceedingly weak as it introduces characters, abilities, ideas and its world. Were I to stop right there and never play it again, I imagine I’d hate this game.

If you keep going with Agents of Mayhem, you’ll find a funny, fun romp that feels like a strange blend of Crackdown, Overwatch and Saints Row. It borrows lots of mechanics from each, and it manages to achieve a clear personality after suffering a rather boring and bland intro.

I’m a ways off from a final opinion, but I think Agents of Mayhem may be a worthwhile dive for those who dig Saints Row. There’s a lot of overlap here, and I’ve found myself enjoying the game more than disliking it.

Perfect? No, certainly not. But this thing has charm.
