Rayman Legends demo hits Nintendo Switch

Miss all the fuss over Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends? That’s fine. The games, while widely regarded as fantastic, weren’t played by everyone given their 2D platforming nature in an era rife with entries for the genre.

If you’re a Nintendo Switch owner, though, you can try Rayman Legends for free right this very moment. The Switch port has received a demo, and that demo is now available on the Nintendo eShop.

The word came from Nintendo of Europe, but the demo is up for American Switch owners, too.

Rayman Legends is a brilliant platformer with tight controls, a rewarding difficulty curve, gorgeous artwork and a soundtrack that’s in a league of its own. It was once slated to be a Wii U exclusive, but Ubisoft elected to nix that idea after the Wii U limped out of the gates to poor sales.

The title would come to the PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PS Vita, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii U. So much for that exclusivity, right? This wound up being one of the early injuries for Nintendo’s ill-fated Wii U in the arena of third-party support.

Rayman Legends will officially land on the Nintendo Switch on September 12, 2017.
