Netflix is continuing to add some pretty impressive Hollywood talent into its fray. The latest big-time name set to direct an upcoming western anthology will be none other than Oscar-winning directors Joel and Ethan Coen.

The Coen Brothers will write and direct the new Netflix western anthology titled The Ballad of Buster Scruggs. It will follow six different stories about the American frontier during the 1800s.

Joel and Ethan Cohen are responsible for some of the most iconic movies over the past two decades, including Fargo, The Big Lebowski, Oh Brother Where Art Thou? and No Country For Old Men. The latter earned the duo three Oscars for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay. Their impressive career was highlighted during Netflix’s announcement of the anthology.

“The Coens are visionary directors, masterful storytellers, and colorful linguists,” said Vice President of Original Content Cindy Holland. “We are thrilled for Netflix to become home to the full range of their talents.”

The Coen Brothers are no strangers to the western genre. They remade the classic True Grit back in 2010 to great critical acclaim and multiple Oscar nominations.

“We’re streaming m*****f******!,” said Joel and Ethan Coen of the announcement. You have to appreciate their enthusiasm.

The Ballad of Buster Scruggs will arrive on Netflix in 2018.
