After numerous leaks, Samsung on Monday confirmed the Galaxy S8 Active does indeed exist, and it’s coming to AT&T. Interested parties can preorder the device beginning tomorrow, with pricing starting at $28.34 per month (or about $850 in total) through AT&T Next.
The Galaxy S8 Active offers everything fans love about the Galaxy S8 wrapped in a metal frame, which Samsung says is shock, shatter, water, and dust-resistant.
The more rugged design means the S8 Active always looks like it’s wearing armor, but it doesn’t look half bad. If you’re prone to dropping your phone, the S8 Active is a great option to consider.
“Our new Samsung Galaxy S8 Active is designed with tested durability and strength to address the needs of consumers who need a more rugged device for their lifestyle,” said Tim Baxter, President and CEO, Samsung Electronics North America.
Samsung’s ides of people who lead more active lifestyle to be “hard-working parents, corporate athletes, and outdoor enthusiasts.”
Along with the more durable design, the S8 Active also offers a feature called Activity Zone, which provides users with easy access to “active lifestyle features such as a stopwatch, barometer, compass, and flashlight.”
Finally, the S8 Active feature a 4,000mAh battery, which is a big step up from the 3,000mAh unit found in the Galaxy S8. Even with the more rugged design, Samsung says owners can still charge the S8 Active wirelessly.
The announcement says the S8 Active will be available exclusively through AT&T for a limited time, suggesting the device will be available elsewhere in the future.
