Overcooked on Nintendo Switch punished for poor performance

The Nintendo Switch version of Overcooked is perhaps underdone.

Overcooked is a really great single and locally cooperative multiplayer game that puts players in a kitchen and has them cook. The catch is that the kitchen may be littered with obstacles, pocked with open pits or organized awkwardly.

The game demands fast reactions as you move about the space preparing food according to recipes in order to prove victorious. In cooperative play, it requires that players be quick witted and ready to communicate. The very nature of those two needs requires that the game run smoothly and without jitter or distraction.

Unfortunately for Nintendo Switch owners, Digital Foundry has it in the video below that this port performs poorly.

Now, it’s entirely possible that the game could be patched in a matter of days or weeks to make things better. In fact, cruising through some recent interactions on Twitter, it seems that the game’s framerate is to be addressed in an upcoming patch.

Peer Schneider from IGN tweeted that, “Overcooked on Switch needs a framerate patch. Played PS4 and Switch back-to-back; still a fun game, but Switch feels sluggish by comparison.” He sent his tweet out into the either, not directed at any account in particular. One Brendan Barr tagged the official Overcooked account in a reply, causing the game’s Twitter account to say, “Sorry to hear that, we’re working on an update as we speak!”

Perhaps we’ll be able to pull this game out of the oven sooner than we thought.
