The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus have been certified as safe for classified use by the National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP), which means that President Trump can now use either handset to not only access confidential documents, but also continue to use Twitter.
“The certification validates that the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus satisfy the rigorous government security standards required to maintain the security posture of National Security Systems,” explains Samsung. “The approval allows federal departments to access the market’s latest commercial hardware.”
It may come as a surprise to hear that the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus aren’t the only Galaxy-branded smartphones to be certified by the NIAP. In the past, the Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S7 have all been approved for classified use — but most of their security certificates have since expired.
