Final Fantasy XV’s multiplayer beta kicks off next week

Final Fantasy XV continues to truck along, making its own rules and bending all sorts of gaming genres. Up next, it will take the mighty leap into online RPGs with a beta test for its wildly anticipated online co-op portion. Square Enix has been teasing it for quite some time, and next week, we finally get to see what’s next in store for this game which knows no boundaries.

Only season pass owners will get to take part in the demo though, sadly, so if you never bought in, you’ll have to be a bit more patient. You’ll also need a PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Gold subscription. If you meet those two requirements, then from Aug. 2 to Aug. 8, you’ll be able to take part.

In the beta, you’ll create up to eight custom characters and equip them with a limited number of weapons and other gear. From there, party with friends and go rocking through Noctis’ world like you’re the king himself.

What can’t this game do?

Seriously, surprise me, Square Enix. Nothing surprises me anymore with Final Fantasy XV.
