Just Cause 3’s multiplayer mod launches and might be the boost it needs

Just Cause 2 is a masterpiece of open world design and free roaming chaos. The fact that its successful multiplayer mod stretched out its lifetime was just an added bonus on top of an otherwise nearly flawless game.

Meanwhile, Just Cause 3 is a mediocre game with performance and progression issues that needs all the help it can get to remain the least bit relevant. No doubt, many are banking on the multiplayer mod to repeat the success its predecessors saw. Will it be able to salvage the game’s numerous issues, which have plagued it since launch, and deliver a justifiable reason for fans to return?

Well, the mod is out now, so we’ll have an answer in the coming weeks. You can pick up the mod through Steam and give it a spin for yourself.

I’m going to guess “no” though. As said before, the multiplayer mod for Just Cause 2 found success by piling replayability on top of a game that was already widely loved and generally accepted as a hit. This simply isn’t the case for Just Cause 3, and I don’t believe a mod is what’s needed to completely reverse public opinion for a single game.

We’ll see how it goes, but if I were to play Just Cause 3 just for the mulitplayer mod, it would just make me want to play Just Cause 2 all over again.
