Thor and Star-Lord are a match made in heaven in Avengers: Infinity War

A ton of Marvel news was unveiled over the weekend, including a badass Thor: Ragnarok trailer (and poster) and details about the next Avengers movie. Much of the insight from the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War came from the directors themselves during panels. One such insight revealed that Thor and Star-Lord will play off each other in hilarious fashion.

Thor and Star-Lord are two of the biggest personalities in the MCU. Star-Lord was quippy and engaging from the first moment he graced the screen in Guardians of the Galaxy. It’s taken a while for Thor to reach his true potential, but the latest trailer for Thor 3 shows that his humorous personality is bigger than ever. It makes sense that these two will provide some moments of levity in a movie that will center around a plot to destroy the world.

Avengers: Infinity War co-director Joe Russo opened up about what it will be like to have them both on screen and what audiences can expect:

You know what’s interesting is that because of the re-toning that Taika (Waititi) did with Thor 3 and the direction is set in as a character, he and Star-Lord were a very surprising combination and a very funny combination. So I’m excited for the audience to see the two of them together.

Few details are known about Infinity War up to this point other than the cast and who the main villain will be (Thanos), but now it’s becoming clear Thor and Star-Lord may steal the show by the time it’s all said and done. This just gets us more excited for not only Avengers: Infinity War, but also Thor: Raganarok.

Russo references the new tone director Taika Waititi took with the film, and it sounds like it’s been a great decision. It’s not only giving Thor 3 new energy that the two previous Thor movies severely lacked, but it’s also spilling over to the next Avengers movie.

Thor: Raganork will be in theaters November 3 and Avengers: Infinity War is set to arrive next May.
