Yesterday, Marvel released a new trailer for Thor: Ragnarok, and you’ll just have to watch it to see how absolutely wonderful it is. It’s finally the cosmic, galaxy-exploring romp fans have been waiting to see—and it features the big screen adaptation of a beloved Hulk storyline. There’s also a fun surprise at the end that you shouldn’t miss.
But as good as the trailer is—Thor and Loki shooting laser guns!—I can’t get over how damn cool the movie’s new poster is. Are your eyes not completely and utterly satisfied by that sight? The gorgeous colors, the symmetry of the symbols and characters. It evokes an emotion, and that emotion is: HELL YEAH!
Thor: Ragnarok is going to be a damn fun movie, one that isn’t so self-serious and embraces the absurdity of Thor, Hulk, and the world of Asgard. And how good is Cate Blanchett as Hela?
People were very skeptical when Taika Waititi, known for What We Do In the Shadows and Hunt for the Wilderpeople, was chosen to direct Ragnarok. But the decision now look like a stroke of genius.
The imagery and use of colors is taking a very Guardians of the Galaxy approach, and there are some shots in the trailer that are reminiscent of what we saw in Guardians 2. But why mess with what works? This is about as far as you can get from Thor: The Dark World, which was decent, but tried way too hard to be dark and brooding.
Marvel has released some cool posters over the last few years, but the latest one for Thor: Ragnarok is a thing of beauty. It deserves to be on every geek’s wall, right next to the gorgeous posters for Wonder Woman.
Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters on November 3.
