WhatsApp is letting you do a lot more while video calling now

WhatsApp has started testing a new build of its beta application for Android that bundles support for picture-in-picture (PIP), allowing users to squash video calls into a smaller window, so they can respond to other conversations.

It looks like PIP can only be used within the WhatsApp application, but seeing as Android O natively supports the technology, there’s a chance users will be able to engage in a video call in a separate window when the client is closed.

Don’t get too excited

We should probably point out that this doesn’t necessarily mean the feature will make its way to the public build anytime soon. WhatsApp frequently tests new tools, only to scrap them after finding out they weren’t a hit with beta users.
