OnePlus starts listing its stock apps on the Play Store, but there’s a catch

OnePlus has listed its default Weather application on the Play Store — but it’s only compatible with its latest devices, including the OnePlus 3T and OnePlus 5. This bodes the question: Why did the firm upload the client to the Store?

Well, if OnePlus bundled the application in its build of the Android operating system, the only way it could update it is by issuing a system-wide OTA. However, by listing it on the Play Store, it can release upgrades whenever it wants.

This is hardly breaking news, but it’s still important

This isn’t major news by any means, but it’s still something that all OnePlus customers should be aware of. Although, we’re guessing that most of them have already ditched the stock client in favor of something a little more in-depth.
