It has been established that Colorware does quality work even though the company’s modifications don’t come cheap. And in the same spirit comes its latest product—custom Switch controllers retro-painted to look like NES controllers. They’re insanely awesome, and as you probably guessed it, absurdly expensive.
A standalone pair of Switch controllers, called Joy-Con, retail for $80. Right now there are only three versions available: Gray, Neon and Yellow Neon. This is where Colorware’s custom NES-like version comes into play if you want more variety.
The controllers feature the same silver color aesthetic with the black and red accents for buttons and text. Colorware even did a fantastic job of making the A, B, X, and Y buttons a glossy red with the red text on the sides with the funky NES font.
So how much will the NES Switch controllers cost you? A hefty $199 plus a three-week shipping wait time. You could get two Switch controller sets for that price, but again, you’re paying to get the unique look and custom paint job.
This isn’t the first time Colorware made a retro edition of a popular product. Not too long ago the company released a retro version of the iPhone 7 Plus. That too was gorgeous and outrageously priced.
