Google Play Movies & TV now supports 4K HDR playback

Following its introduction of 4K content on Play Movies & TV late last year, Google has today started rolling out compatibility for HDR; and best of all, it’s not only available for Chromecast Ultra owners. It’s available on any device that supports 4K HDR in Canada and the U.S.

Any film that can be streamed in regular 4K is also available in HDR, though there’s no denying that the firm’s catalog of ultra-high-resolution content is pretty thin. To see what movies support 4K HDR playback, open up the Play Store and search for “HDR.”

Just in case you’re interested, some of our favorite HDR-enabled titles titles on the list are Batman v SupermanFantastic Beasts and Where to Find ThemMad Max: Fury Road, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and The LEGO Movie.
